Does the acupuncture
needle hurt?
There is often a sensation that patients experience
during the insertion of an acupuncture needle. This sensation will
vary from "I didn't feel it at all" to a brief ache or heaviness
at the needled site. Some points are more sensitive than others. Patients
describe the sensations as fleeting and often deeply relaxing.
Why would I see an acupuncturist?
Acupuncture treatments help people achieve and maintain
good health. Through acupuncture, the body, mind and spirit of the
person becomes vibrantly integrated, and stays that way in order to
meet the demands of an often very stressful life. In addition, acupuncture
also relieves a wide range of physical conditions. The
patient's concerns and symptoms often transform into a deep personal
healing that reaches far beyond the physical condition. One of the
most amazing reasons to start acupuncture treatments is to rediscover
and cultivate your awareness of the magnificent healing abilities and
power of your own body. Acupuncture awakens the senses and offers the
possibility of deep healing of the body, mind and spirit.
Is acupuncture covered by insurance?
Today a growing number of insurance companies will
reimburse patients for acupuncture treatments. Please check in with
your insurer for your policy coverage. I will supply the information
needed for your claim to your insurance company. Full payment is required
at the time of treatment.
Are the needles safe?
The needles are safe. We use only sterile disposable
needles, and dispose of them immediately after one use only. Do I have to be ill to benefit from acupuncture?
You don't have to be ill at all to benefit from
acupuncture treatments. A lot of patients get regular acupuncture treatments
to enhance their overall health and well being. (The Tibetan Dalai
Lama is one.) Acupuncture treatments help you perform better at the
work place, deepen your relationships with the people in your life,
and provide a powerful preventative way to keep you healthy throughout
the year. There are many issues that may hinder you from accomplishing
your fullest potential in life. These issues may be emotional, physical,
or spiritual in nature. Acupuncture can gently help you work through
them.
How frequently do I need to come to benefit
from treatment?
The frequency of acupuncture treatments depends
on each individual and their own health history. Your energy level,
and your medical condition determine that as well. After your initial
consultation, I would like to see you once a week for between six and
eight visits. During this time, significant signs of progress will
likely appear. As you experience improvement in your condition and
enjoy a greater sense of ease in life, treatments may be extended to
every other week, every three weeks, monthly and eventually seasonally.
The frequency of treatments varies with each individual.
Is my treatment confidential?
All treatments remain confidential. Just like going
to any doctor, your professional interactions are protected according
to federal law and guidelines. I will provide you with my privacy policy
information and inform you of your privacy rights during our first
visit together.
